What to do with a Timeshare you don’t want – ITRA - Owners Action

Many people reading this will already know from first hand experience that timeshares can be very difficult if not impossible to sell.  People owning Timeshares they no longer want have three choices open to them: They can either Sell which usually proves impossible, they can Donate it, or they can try and walk away from it.

Selling your timeshare

Many owners are fed up, frustrated and angry after dealing with the frustrating process of trying to sell their timeshare. Then having to realize the loss they have to except in order to sell their timeshare with many timeshares selling for up to 50%  less than the original purchase price paid, when in the beginning many first time buyers thought they were getting a sound investment.

Donating a Timeshare

If you are keen to get out of your ownership commitment and can incur the loss then donating your timeshare could be a good option and the best chance of getting a positive result from what has become a very negative situation. The way the idea works is very simple indeed. The company will purchase your timeshare from you still at a knock down price, then they will resell the timeshare, and give a portion of the profit to a charity.

You still take the financial loss, but you have now sold your Timeshare which is always the main problem and are free now from any further maintence fees and dealing with re sales companies, and a charity will get a portion of any profit made.

Just Walk Away

Many people in fact feel like just doing this and have done so and have got into even more trouble. If you just stop making any payments, usually the company will then sell the debt to a debt collection agency, this can be more problematic to deal with than the company you were dealing with before, it cold also ruin your credit rating.

Many people feel that they were miss sold the Timeshare in the first place, there have been recent news stories of people being convicted for Timeshare Fraud, and now for many reasons no longer use their weeks.

If this is you Owners Action is here to deal with your Timeshare complaint, we specialise in helping people who feel they were misrepresented in the beginning and now feel trapped in their ownership contract.
